Vineyards

We love wine, but we love farming.

We call home to vineyards in Yountville and Oakville.
We grow primarily cabernet sauvignon, and aspire to reflect the unique character of each individual vineyard in the bottle. We are drawn to single vineyard, sub-appellated wines, in our wine club offerings. To achieve that we partner with a number of growers in these specialized varietals.

Our vineyards are heritage vineyards, mostly from the 1980’s and 1990‘s and grafted from “suitcase” clones of unknown origin. They are very unique to Napa’s early heritage. Indeed, Hoopes has the oldest pre-Phylloxera vineyard in Oakville. That site in particular remains a sought-out destination by wine educators and enthusiasts alike because it is a telescope into some older farming techniques and Napa’s agricultural history. This vineyard is our flagship vineyard, and was the fruit source for the first vintage of Hoopes Family Vineyard wine. We still farm and produce from this vineyard today.

Hoopes Vineyard

Although we primarily specialize in cabernet sauvignon, Lindsay approached Anne and Jennifer in 2012 to develop a series of limited production wines. Her goal was to capture some vineyards that held a special role in Anne and Jen’s growth has winemakers. Lindsay wanted the Hoopes wines to reflect our winemaking-family’s heritage, too.

Available only direct from our winery, these new limited-production wines reflect a broader patchwork of Napa vineyards, sub-appellations, and varietal diversity. These wines are always produced in small quantities of less than 300-cases, Most are from farmers who also have multi-generational legacies within Napa.

We care deeply about sustainability efforts, and intend to shepherd the land for multiple generations to come. All of our vineyards are Certified Organic or are undergoing certification. Our vineyards are working, regenerative farms complete with animals, water recycling systems, and bio-diversity practices aimed at enhancing the overall health of our vineyard ecosystem.
